Members’ Newsletter – April 2026

An occasional newsletter to update members was circulated on 31 March 2026.

We are a member of the St Helens Heritage Network and, having recently attended a meeting with similar groups in the borough, I wanted to share with you some of the forthcoming events and activities.

  • Did you know that by prior arrangement you may visit the St Helens Archive Service (now based in The World of Glass) on the first Monday of the month to either search through specific records or to find out more from the resources held there?

Tel:  01744 671748

  • St Helens Heritage Festival will take place again this year on Saturday 30 May at St Helens Town Hall. We will be hosting a stall and will be displaying a selection of our artefacts. Members are always encouraged to get involved and to have a say over which items are selected. Have you any requests or suggestions as to what would make an interesting display to showcase our collection?
  • The World of Glass will be hosting an International Festival of Glass on 27-31 August which is bound to be a huge event given the number of countries visiting the town to take part.
  • If you are interested in Saints (St Helens Rugby League Football Club) you might like to visit the stadium’s reception area where new display cabinets house a range of rugby memorabilia. Or log on to their website which holds the records of 5269 matches and 2070 players from 1873 – to date. For a little adventure, and if you’re feeling energetic, why not embark upon the 7 mile Saints Heritage Way, details of which are on the website.
  • Rotary St Helens has adopted space in the central station to use as a heritage hub and has also just unveiled seven pieces of artwork reflecting work and recreational activities related to the town.
